Mozambique Among African Countries Covered by New Energy Storage Partnership

According to the outlet, the agreement includes the introduction of battery energy storage systems (BESS), considered essential for improving grid stability and integrating renewable sources, at a time when Mozambique is seeking to diversify its energy mix and reduce vulnerability to supply disruptions.
According to a statement from the companies, the partnership will combine Pace Digitek’s production capacity and technological development capabilities with NEC XON’s regional presence and implementation experience, creating an operational platform to expand energy solutions across the continent.
Mozambique Among Strategic Markets
Mozambique’s inclusion in the expansion plan comes at a time when the country faces structural challenges in the energy sector, including distribution constraints and a need for more resilient infrastructure, particularly in regions affected by climate shocks and growing demand.
BESS solutions enable the storage of energy generated from renewable sources, such as solar and wind power, for later use, helping to reduce outages and improve the efficiency of the national power grid.
For Pace Digitek, Africa represents a high-growth market, driven by the increasing focus on clean energy and the need to ensure a stable electricity supply—factors that are also evident in the Mozambican context.
Strengthening energy and industrial capacity
The partnership is also expected to facilitate the introduction of new technologies into the country, creating opportunities for the modernization of energy infrastructure and the eventual development of local expertise related to the implementation and maintenance of these systems.
Pace Digitek Director Rajiv Maddisetty stated that the collaboration offers “a solid platform for introducing integrated energy solutions into high-growth markets,” highlighting the company’s potential for international expansion.
For his part, NEC XON’s head of energy, Magnus Coetzee, emphasized that the agreement strengthens the ability to provide “reliable and scalable” solutions, aligned with the growing demand for resilient energy infrastructure in the region.
In a country like Mozambique, where access to energy remains a challenge in many areas, the implementation of these technologies could play a significant role in accelerating electrification, supporting the productive sector, and facilitating the transition to a more sustainable energy model.
