ExxonMobil Reaffirms Commitment to Local Firms on Rovuma LNG

The commitment was made by Anthony Pryde, ExxonMobil's Development Director for Mozambique, after a Mozambican business delegation led by CTA visited the multinational's campus in Houston, United States.

'We are very committed and determined to work with local companies and organisations such as CTA, to ensure that we can maximise opportunities for businesses and workers to participate in the success of the project,' said Anthony Pryde.

Pryde also indicated that ExxonMobil is working towards reaching a Final Investment Decision (FID) on the project before the end of this year, reinforcing the company's intention to advance its gas development in Mozambique.

Adrian Fray, President of CTA's Local Content Bureau, described ExxonMobil as a strategic partner in promoting local content, highlighting the gas industry's potential to create employment and generate contracts for national companies.

'Our objective at CTA, on local content, is to bring income to two million people and contracts to ten thousand companies,' said Adrian Fray, noting that the partnership with ExxonMobil remains at an early stage.

According to Fray, the two parties reached a preliminary understanding to cooperate, with specific targets for the partnership to be defined at a later stage. He urged Mozambican businesses to monitor contracting opportunities published through CTA and ExxonMobil platforms.

'It is important that you follow these opportunities. The message is to start preparing for these tenders and these jobs,' Fray said. CTA has already made available platforms through which more than 600 tenders and employment opportunities have been launched, while ExxonMobil operates the MozUp platform.

Fray emphasised that the opportunities are not confined to the gas sector and could also extend to Mozambican companies in mining, agriculture, and services. 'This new phase of investment in Mozambique has already begun. For now we only speak of gas — we have not yet spoken of the mining sector. That will also enter local content,' he said.

CTA's Local Content Bureau is also preparing to open an office on Avenida Marginal in Maputo, dedicated to supporting national businesses.
