French Contractor GTT Wins FLNG Vessel Services Contract
French contractor GTT has won a services contract for Eni’s Coral Sul floating liquefied natural gas vessel for the Coral South LNG project offshore Mozambique.
GTT will provide technical support services to ensure the efficient operation and maintenance of the LNG storage tanks onboard the Coral Sul FLNG facility. These services include on-site and remote technical assistance, on-site testing, inspection, emergency assistance, engineering services and specialised training programmes.
GTT, the technology specialist in membrane containment systems for the transport and storage of liquefied gases, on Monday confirmed the contract for the 3.4 million tonnes per annum FLNG barge, which has storage capacity of 238,700 cubic metres.
The value of the services contract was not disclosed.
Italian energy giant Eni operates the Coral South project on behalf of the Area 4 co-venturers. The FLNG vessel, which boasts a Mark III membrane containment system developed by GTT, delivered its first cargo 23 months ago.
GTT said the main objective of its latest contract is to ensure the continued operation of the FLNG while maintaining the appropriate level of safety throughout the project life cycle.
“We are proud to accompany Eni on the Coral Sul FLNG project, which contributes to the development of the LNG industry in Africa,” said GTT chief executive Jean-Baptiste Choimet.
“GTT remains committed to providing tailor-made, innovative services that support the transition to cleaner energies.”
The Coral Sul FLNG vessel was constructed by a consortium of Technip Energies, JGC and Samsung Heavy Industries.
This same trio are in talks with Eni about providing a lookalike vessel, Coral Norte, for its planned Coral North project.
Located in Area 4 off the coast of Mozambique, the feed gas underpinning the LNG schemes comes from the 15 trillion cubic feet (425 billion cubic metres) deepwater Coral field.
