Cabo Delgado remains attractive to foreign investment

Organizers of the tenth Mozambique Gas and Energy Conference and Exhibition said on Wednesday that there are more and more international investors interested in investing in the country, especially Cabo Delgado.

Since its first edition in 2013, the Mozambique Gas and Energy Conference and Exhibition has been a platform for interaction with the country’s energy industry. Its tenth edition has been an opportunity for new international investors to enter the country.

“We are here to continue saying that Mozambique is open for business, that there is a lot of global interest in the energy and gas sector,” said Tiago Marques, representative of Dmg, the event organizer, who also confirmed the inclusion of more companies in the conference: “We will have new companies, such as the national company from Abu Dhabi, which is coming to Mozambique to invest.”

For Tiago Marques, this shows that there is a lot of interest in Mozambique, “and we want to build that bridge”.

Another piece of information presented by the Dmg representative is the presentation of results in September. “We hope that by the end of the event, in September, new businesses and new partnerships will have been formed,” Marques predicted.

Host to more than 90% of megaprojects, Cabo Delgado is once again appealing to international investors, even taking into account the challenges that the country faces. “We are not here to try to say that everything is positive, but, in fact, what we are trying to say, with this press conference, is precisely that the businesses and companies that are looking at the country continue and that the challenges are trying to be overcome, and the climate is positive,” Marques said.

For the organizers of the Gas and Energy Conference and Exhibition, there are plans for foreign investment in the country to resume, as revealed by the meetings held. “I have been here this week in meetings with several companies and with our clients, and the atmosphere is quite positive, but I must say that we continue to wait anxiously,” he explained.

In addition to attracting investors and improving the business environment, the conference
has been a mechanism for placing students from the sector in employment.
