Afungi: A Project of Extraordinary Scale
Nothing quite prepares you for the scale of Afungi…
Last Thursday, Crystelle Coury, on behalf of the Camara de Comercio e Industria França-Moçambique CCIFM, had the privilege of visiting TotalEnergies’ Afungi site in Cabo Delgado and witnessing firsthand the scale & progress of the Projecto Mozambique LNG.
While many of us are familiar with the project's significance for Mozambique & the world, seeing it on the ground is a completely different experience... The sheer size of the infrastructure, the complexity of the operations, and the number of people involved make it clear why this is considered one of the largest energy projects ever undertaken on the African continent.
What particularly impressed me was the scale of local participation, with thousands of Mozambicans currently working on site, as well as the socio-economic & community development initiatives that have been implemented over the years with Mozambique LNG Foundation. The commitment to LocalContent and Training is evident.
My sincere thanks to the Mozambique LNG team and all those who made this visit possible! It was a valuable opportunity to better understand both the progress achieved and the road ahead.
