Area 4: Hull of the Coral North Floating Platform Launched. Event Took Place in South Korea

In a statement cited by Lusa, Eni said the operation was carried out in full compliance with the project schedule, adding that this “will be the second state-of-the-art floating LNG facility to be deployed in the ultra-deep waters of Area 4 of the Rovuma Basin, off the coast of Cabo Delgado, in the north of the country.”
“Building on the knowledge and experience gained since Coral South FLNG began production in 2022, Coral North FLNG was designed to deliver greater efficiency and optimized performance, reducing costs and minimizing execution risks, with the aim of completing the project on schedule in 2028,” the company added.
With a liquefaction capacity of 3.6 million tonnes per year (mtpa), Coral North FLNG will double Mozambique’s total LNG production to 7 mtpa, a milestone that will position the country “as the third-largest LNG producer and exporter in Africa, strengthening its role as a key player in the global energy market.”
In October, President Daniel Chapo and Eni CEO Claudio Descalzi signed the Final Investment Decision (FID) for Coral North in Maputo. The project will be operated by Eni on behalf of Rovuma Mozambique Venture (MRV), a consortium holding a 70% participating interest, which also includes ExxonMobil and China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), while ENH, KOGAS and Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) each hold 10%.
