Business Breakfast & Member Presentation featuring ENGIE Energy Access Mozambique
On June 11th, in the beautiful gardens of ENGIE’s Maputo offices, we had the honour of introducing our Camara de Comercio e Industria França-Moçambique CCIFM members to the inspiring work of a company that is revolutionising access to energy across Africa.
We began with an overview of ENGIE, the French energy giant born from the 2008 merger of Gaz de France & Suez. Today, ENGIE stands as a global leader in the energy transition, with more than 97,000 employees in +30 countries, and an annual revenue of EUR 80 billion.
We then shifted focus to ENGIE Energy Access (Africa), one of Africa’s leading off-grid solar providers. Operating in 9 African countries, the company is making energy more accessible through its innovative Pay-As-You-Go model, which empowers underserved communities with reliable, clean power.
One of the highlights of the morning was the inspiring presentation by João Ferreira, the newly appointed Regional Director for Southern Africa. Based in Maputo since February, he oversees operations in Mozambique, Zambia, and Tanzania.
We also had the chance to discover "MySol Boss", ENGIE’s innovative new product tailored specifically for the Southern African market. This game-changing solution aims to transform energy access for both households and small businesses.
The impact in Mozambique alone is remarkable: since 2019, ENGIE has served more than 230,000 customers across 10 provinces, positively impacting around 1.15 million lives. Their efforts also extend to clean cooking technologies, including biodigesters and biogas stoves, further contributing to a sustainable future.
It was a morning full of learning, innovation, and meaningful dialogue!
A heartfelt thank you to the entire ENGIE Mozambique team for their warm hospitality and for sharing their inspiring vision for a more sustainable energy future.
